Oʻahu Business Recovery Grant application portal closes after receiving $3.5M in new requests

HONOLULU – The Oʻahu Business Recovery Grant (OBR) portal received an additional $3.5 million in grant requests from small businesses affected by the pandemic during a second round of application submissions on Monday and is no longer accepting new applications.

Roughly 375 additional small businesses submitted applications to the portal, which reopened on Monday. Hundreds of other applications were submitted during the portal’s initial opening on January 30, 2023.

$3.5 million of the $10 million OBR grant program is available for grants in this final round.

The Chamber of Commerce Hawaii will review applications on a first-come, first-served basis, determine eligibility, and award grants to qualified small businesses until funds are fully expended. No application is guaranteed funding, and not every application will be eligible. About 60% of applications are projected to qualify, based on data from the first round of grants.

To check on the status of an application, businesses can log into the Submittable account they created when applying.

Small businesses are encouraged to visit revitalizeoahu.org/business-resources for more resources from the City, our government partners, and nonprofits. Businesses can also contact the Business and Constituent Educator Team for individual help in connecting to support at bce@honolulu.gov.
